Abstract

Abstract: By ring-closure of 1-nicotinyl-4-arylthiosemicarbazides under the catalysis of concentrated sulfuric acid or mercuric acetate, a series of 2-(3-pyridyl)-5-arylarnino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles and 2-(3-pyridyl)-5-ary-lamino-1,3,4-oxadiazoles were synthesized, respectively.All the products were subjected to testing of biological activity.Furthermore, the IR, ¹H NMR and MS spectral properties of these new compounds were studied in details and some significant conclusions were drawn.
