Two binuclear Co(I)complexes [Co₂L(μ-OH)](ClO₄)₂CH₃OH(Ⅱ)and [Co₂L(μ-Cl)Cl₂]H₂O(2) were synthesized[where HL is 1:2 Schiff bases derived from 1, 3-diamino-2-hydroxypropane and picolinaldehyde N-oxide]. Based on the IR, elemental analyses and conductivity measurement it is proposed that these complexes have an endogenous bridge (alkoxide)and an exogenous bridge (It can be an anion).

This paper describes the development and optimization of a flow injection analysis (FIA)manifold for the simultaneous determination, by atomic absorption spec-trophotometry (AAS)and flame emission photometry (FP), of total calcium and potassium in blood serum. A dialysis unit is used in this setup to ensure a high dilution of potassium and to divide the sample plug before it reaches the detectors. The advantages of an optimization algorithm, modified Powell's method, to attain the best performance of the setup are demonstrated by a restricted experimental trial. Lastly, the quality of the results obtained with this method is evaluated with two pools of control sera.

The present paper describes proton nuclear magnetic resonance studies on native rat liver metallothionein isoforms (MT-I and-I). The two isoforrns were isolated and purified from rat liver after induced by cadmium chloride. 1D NMR spin-decoupling and 2D-COSY techniques were employed in this study for the iden-tification of individual methyl resonances in metallothionein- I and一I. a-domain of metallothionein-I containing four cadmium ions was also prepared and studied by NMR to aid domain specific assignment of these resonsnces. MT was studied extensively at various pH, temperatures and ionic strengths on the basis of these resonances assignment. It is stable in the range of pH 5-9 and also at higher temperatures. The flexible part of MT is near Ala8, Va139.

The acetone condensation on solid base catalysts was studied. The expected products, mesityl oxide, isophorone and very a little amount of phorone were obtained. The condensation process of acetone was discussed using conformation analytic method. The low yield ratio of phorone to isophorone was explained well.
