The secondary structures of native cytochrome c(cyt c) in both solid and solution states and four platinum modified cyt c derivatives in solution were determined by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. It was found that the secondary structure of cyt c in solid state is similar to that in the solution. In the cases of platinum-modified cyt c derivatives, when the binding sites of platinum complex are on or near the surface of the protein, its secondary structure is similar to that of native cyt c. However, when the platinum complex binds to Met 80 ligand and causes the replacement of the second axial ligand by non-native Lys 79 ligand or H2O supplied by solvent, there is a significant difference between the structures of low-or high-spin state cyt c derivatives and that of native cyt c. The results suggest that axial ligand Met 80 residue plays an important role in stabilizing the secondary structure of cyt c.

The present paper covers the syntheses of 1-D chain, 2-D layered and 3-D microporous aluminophosphates containing organic amines or ammonium in the presence of various amines from alcoholic systems. The rule for the crystallization of the above three families of microporous aluminophosphates was summarized and the effects of organic amine, P/Al ratio, sources of aluminum and phosphorous and temperature on the resulted structures were investigated.

We isolated and purified high-purity and high-activity soluble Guanylate cyclase(sGC) from bovine lung. The electronic absorption and resonance Raman spectra of the ferrous and ferric forms of sGC were recorded. In the ferrous state of sGC, the electronic absorption spectra showed a sharp peak at 431 nm and a single broad peak in the α/β region at 559 nm. The resonance Raman spectra of sGC(ferrous) showed a stronger band at 1357 cm-1 and a single peak at 1473 cm-1 . For the ferric form of sGC, the Soret band was at 390 nm and resonance Raman peak was at 1375 cm-1 . These spectra show that the heme-iron of the ferrous and ferric sGC are all 5-coordination and high spin.

The interactions of the complexes of Cu(phen)22+ and Cu(bpy)22+ with DNA were investigated with electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry. Binding constants( Kn+ ) and the reaction model were obtained from their electrochemical behavior and electrochemical data. The binding constants( K2+ ) for Cu(phen)22+-DNA and Cu(bpy)22+-DNA were 8.51×103 L·mol-1 and 3.27×103 L·mol-1, and K+'s were 3.09×104 L·mol-1 and 5.66×103 L·mol-11 respectively. The spectroscopic characteristics of the complexes of Cu(phen)22+-DNA and Cu(bpy)22+-DNA were studied in detail. Some significant spectroelectrochemical data were obtained. The interaction of DNA with complexes was described.

The determination of the elements of groups ⅢA and ⅣA by means of microwave plasma torch atomic emission spectrometry(MPT-AES) was studied systematically. Sample solutions were introduced into the plasma with a pneumatic nebulizer in continuous sampling mode and flow injection (FI) mode. The emission characteristics of these elements were investigated in details, and the basic data obtained are very important to the development of MPT AES. The analytical performances were examined. For most elements, the detection limits obtained by this method were principally the same as those obtained by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES).

The electronic structure and electronic absorption spectra of binuclear Au(Ⅰ) complexes with bidentate phophines and a bidentate ylid ligand have been studied using quasirelativistic pseudopotential ab initio calculations at the HF and MP2 levels by the LANL2DZ basis sets. The electronic properties of the spectral transition and Au(Ⅰ)—Au(Ⅰ) interaction were also discussed.

Natural layered aluminosilicate Kaolinite Al4[Si4O10 ](OH)8 has been used as a starting material for preparing a new system of lithium fast ion conductors by high temperature(1073—1223 K) solid state reactions. X ray powder diffraction and a.c. impedance technique were used to characterize the compositions of the Li1+2x Alx Zr 2-x Six P3-x O12 system. A single pure solid solution phase with R3c space group can be formed in the composition range of x ≤0.4. A specimen with x =0.3 possesses a maximum ionic conductivity which reaches up to 1.03×10-2 s/cm at 723 K and the activation energy is 29.63 kJ/mol.

Five DTPA bis(amide)s have been synthesized and characterized by means of 1H NMR, FT-IR and elemental analyses. The stability constants of their Gd3+ complexes have been measured using a simple spectrophotometric method. The results show that the complexing properties of the ligands in comparison with those of DTPA are affected by converting two carboxyl groups to amide groups. The relaxation studies have shown that the relaxivity of the chelates is similar to that of Gd-DTPA, indicating that in solution all the chelates have one water molecule directly coordinated to the metal ion. Only one water molecule in inner coordination sphere suggests the coordination of the carboxamide oxygen to gadolinium ion, which agrees with the FT-IR results.

The phase transition behavior and aggregating states of [smectic LCP, PS(4BC/DM)/nematic LC, E7/chiral dopant, CB-15] ternary composite system were investigated on the basis of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement, polarizing optical microscopy (POM) observation and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) patterns. It was demonstrated that if the weight ratio of the chiral dopant was fixed as 4.8wt%, an induced chiral nematic (N*) phase existed in the ternary system when PS(4BC/DM) ratio was below 47.6 wt%. Moreover, smectic like long-range ordering appeared in the induced N* phase in a certain temperature range just above the smectic A(SA) N* phase transition when PS(4BC/DM) ratio was between 19.1wt% and 47.6wt%.
