Abstract: Retarded photogenerated charge carrier dynamics and inadequate redox capability are two persistent obstacles to achieving efficient sunlight-driven antibiotic eradication. To address these issues, a distinctive tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)-porphyrin/bismuth silicate (TCPP/BSO) heterostructure was rationally fabricated by binding TCPP onto micro-sized BSO through a straightforward route. This configuration concurrently regulates charge transport and surface redox activity, leading to substantially augmented oxytetracycline (OTC) removal. Notably, TCPP/BSO-2 demonstrates far superior photocatalytic OTC degradation relative to pristine BSO. The synergistic integration of organic TCPP and inorganic BSO not only broadens light absorption but also expedites charge delivery and boosts photoredox kinetics, collectively accounting for the marked improvement in OTC decontamination. Overall, this work presents a robust organic-inorganic S-scheme heterostructure capable of jointly tuning charge behavior and maximizing redox potential, providing a promising strategy for the rational design of advanced porphyrin-based photocatalysts toward environmental remediation.
