Facile and Efficient Syntheses of (±)-2,6-Dimethyl-6-hydroxy-2,7-octadienoic Acid and Its Methyl Ester

Abstract: The facile and efficient total syntheses of monoterpenoid acid 7a and its ester 7b, isolated from Artemisia siebert and Piper aduncum respectively, can be completed in four steps with an overall yield 41%.
