Abstract: A new series of near infrared(NIR) electrochromic anthraquinone imides containing a triphenylamine moiety as an electron donor was synthesized and their electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behavior were investigated. The results show that the new anthraquinone imides are redox active which can be reduced electrochemically from the neutral state to the radical anion form that absorbs in a range of 700―1200 nm.
