Syntheses of β-Hydroxy Ketones by Organosamarium

Abstract: An organosamarium reagent was prepared via the reaction of α-bromoacetophenone with samarium. This organosamarium reagent reacted with aldehydes to give β-hydroxy ketones. A possible reaction process was suggested.
