Abstract: Chiral titanate reagents were prepared for inducing asymmetric syntheses of substituted benzhydrols from Grignard reagents and aldehydes. The solvents, reaction temperature and exchange of reactants by crossing experiments were investigated. Favorable attack of the nucleophile upon the aromatic aldehydes' prochiral face was proposed, the absolute configurations of the synthesized benzhydrols were suggested, and a preliminary reaction mechanism was described.
