Abstract: 2-Phenyl-5-(4'-biphenylyl)-oxadiazole-1,3,4 and twenty five of its 2-substituled phenyl derivatives were synthesized,Their m.p.,λmax of UV absorption spectra and fluorescence emission spectra,fluorescence quantum yield as well as laser properties arc given in tables It is found that seventeen of them give higher conversion efficiency than PPO in near UVreion.
