Abstract: Nine a-halo-m-trifluoromethgl cinnamides were synthesized from trifluoromethyl benzene,via bromination,Grignard reaction,condensation,halogen addition reactions etc,as indicated in the synthetic scheme.Their configurations were confirmed by 1H NMR.Their pharmacological results showed that the introduction of a-halogen group do not enhance their anticonvulsant activity as expected.
